Information & Communications Technology Producer: US-Dakota War, MN Historical Society

The Minnesota Historical Society’s Enterprise Technology & Business Development department seeks applicants for an Information & Communications Technologies Producer: US-Dakota War (Budget Title: Program Associate, 1862) to coordinate, research, monitor, and facilitate multiple online projects related to the US-Dakota War involving content research, database development, and data entry. This is a full-time, project position (2,088 annual hours) located at the History Center in St. Paul, MN working through June 30, 2011. Renewal dependent upon available funding and program need.
Summary of Work: Responsibilities include: 1) carries out or assists other staff within the institution in research related to the development of topics and themes for US-Dakota War online web projects; 2) monitors and facilitates US-Dakota War collection delivery projects; 3) assists in the design and conceptualization of US-Dakota War online projects; and 4) prepares items or documentation for public presentation via the Society’s web page.
Minimum Qualifications:
* B. A. in American history, American studies, anthropology, museum studies, journalism, mass communication or related field plus three years history-related research experience or equivalent OR an advanced degree plus two years program experience or equivalent.
* Demonstrated knowledge of Minnesota and American history.
* Demonstrated ability to work effectively with Native Americans, preferably with Dakota people.
* Demonstrated experience working with office software applications in a Windows environment.
* Demonstrated experience of creation of multimedia story-telling or research web sites.
* Experience with image editing software, preferably Photoshop.
Desirable Qualifications:
* Knowledge of web programming (HTML, JavaScript, CSS, etc. and associated software applications.
* Experience with audio editing software, e.g. Audacity or Soundbooth.
* Experience with video editing software, e.g. Premiere.
* Familiarity with metadata standards, e.g. Dublin Core.
* Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
* Strong interpersonal skills, including conflict resolution skills and a genuine respect for the views of others.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
