Research Archaeologist I, Applied Archaeology Laboratories, Department of Anthropology
Professional position available immediately. Responsibilities: develop grant and contract proposals and secure funding for archaeological research and cultural resource management projects for the Applied Archaeology Laboratories; design, implement, and supervise field and analytical projects and oversee the reporting and publication of results.
Minimum qualifications: master's degree or doctorate in anthropology, archaeology, or related field; meet the Secretary of Interior's Professional Standards for Archaeology, which requires: at least one year of full-time professional experience or equivalent specialized training in archeological research, administration or management; at least four months of supervised field and analytic experience in general North American archeology; at least one year of full-time professional experience at a supervisory level in the study of archeological resources of the prehistoric period; experience in Midwestern Archaeology and qualify as a Principal Investigator under the Indiana Division of Historic Preservation and Archaeology.
Preferred qualifications: Ph.D. in archaeology, anthropology, or related field; demonstrated ability to successfully conduct and complete cultural resource management projects; history of successful grant proposals and project completion; familiarity with collections management; specialization in the analysis of at least one prehistoric or historic artifact industry or human remains; at least one year of full-time professional experience at a supervisory level in the study of archeological resources of the historic period; computer competency in the use of GIS, statistical analysis, word processing, spreadsheets and databases, and graphics programs; experience in public archaeology and programs; teaching experience at the undergraduate level.
