Looking For Volunteer Opportunities Near Philadelphia, PA
Michaella2992
Hi. My name is Michaella. All my life I have been fascinated by anything with history. As a child I would "dig" in my dad's 19th century unfinished basement in Philadelphia's historic Jeweler's Row, pretending I was a famous archaeologist. Now, all grown up, I want to learn and experience what archaeology has to offer. I am a hard worker and a fast learner. This is something I have passion for and am eager to immerse myself in. Thank you for taking the time to read my post. I am looking forward to hopefully going on an adventure into Pennsylvania's rich history!

Michaella, you may want to join your local chapter of the Society for Pennsylvania Archaeology. Some chapters offer volunteer opportunities, or members may be able to point you in the right direction. Here is the contact info for your chapter from PennsylvaniaArchaeology.com:
John Shrader Chapter #21 meets on the 1st Wedensday each month at 7:30 p.m., at the Joanna Furnace, Berks County, PA Chapter Representative: Cathy Spohn, (610) 678-1274 Email: cspohn@state.pa.us
I found some info on volunteering with the National Park Service at the Independence National Historical Park's Archeology Laboratory on this web page: http://www.nps.gov/inde/ilhc.htm
The University of Pennsylvania Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology offers volunteer opportunities: http://www.penn.museum/volunteer-about.html
You may want to look into the Philadelphia Archaeological Forum as well - http://www.phillyarchaeology.org/index.htm
I hope this helps. Good luck,
Jennifer
