JOB SUMMARY:
The BLM manages more land - approximately 253 million acres than any other Federal agency. This land, known as the National System of Public Lands, is primarily located in 12 Western states, including Alaska. The Bureau, with a budget of about $1 billion, also administers 700 million acres of sub-surface mineral estates throughout the nation. The BLM's multiple-use mission is to sustain the health and productivity of the public lands for the use and enjoyment of present and future generations.

This announcement is establishing a register of qualified applicants interested in pursuing a career with the BLM thru the Federal Career Intern Program(FCIP). Thru the FCIP individuals are appointed to a 2 year internship. Upon successful completion of the internship, interns may be eligible for permanent placement within BLM.
The BLM will be present at the 81st League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC) National Convention & Exposition in Albuquerque, New Mexico July 12-17, 2010. Information regarding the LULAC can be found by clicking LULAC National Convention & Exposition.
On-site applications will be accepted on Wednesday, July 14, 2010 from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm at the BLMJOBFAIR booth. Applications received thru this announcement will be considered, in conjunction with resumes received at the LULAC Fair. Submitting your application via this announcement will ensure that you receive early consideration. Applications will be reviewed and those applicants demonstrating the necessary skills and knowledge will be invited for an interview during the conference either in-person or by phone.
Your work assignments will be designed to provide an orientation to the BLM and offer progressive on-the-job specialized work experience and training. At the end of a two year internship, you will be on track to perform as a fully functional Professional in your chosen field.

GS-0193-Archeologists BLM archaeologist's work consists of locating evidence of past cultures, conducting detailed excavations, completing laboratory analyses, writing reports, and teaching. Besides conducting studies to understand the past, the
archaeologist is also involved in saving artifacts of the past
for the benefit of future generations.
GS-0965- Land Law Examiners: perform "all phases" of adjudicatory duties and responsibilities associated with lands.
These include case file adjudication and maintenance of lands
applications and proposals, providing technical direction to
BLM Field Offices, coordination of multi-district cases, and backup
to other lands adjudication specialist.
GS-1170-Realty Specialist:ensure appropriate use of public
land through rights-of-way, leases, easements, and
permits. Lands are also patented (ownership is transferred)
through sales and exchanges. A Realty Specialist gathers
information about the multiple uses of public lands-such as
wildlife, range, and recreation-and evaluates how those
uses might affect a proposed action. A Realty Specialist
may work with the public, members of Congress, commercial
land users, and others on issues related to public land
use and disposal, land ownership, land access, property
boundary surveys, and public land titles and records.
GS-1801 Law Enforcement Rangers: play a critical role in land
management because of their combined resource protection
and search-and-rescue duties. Rangers must understand
and convey conservation management and multiple-use
principles and practices. They must know administrative,
civil, and criminal law as well as individual constitutional
rights. Rangers must conduct patrols, investigate crimes,
manage budgets, negotiate agreements, and conduct
search-and rescue missions while responding to the needs
and interests of public stakeholders, such as ranchers and
farmers, miners, foresters, and resource groups.
