Heh. That's where I got my Masters. Don't let them bully you into taking Statistics as your graduate electives. Do Cartography/GIS or Geo-morphology. Way more useful.
I can't remember if you mentioned Historical Arch. or Prehistoric as your interest. For some reason, I think it may be the latter. Of course, I think they added a Near Eastern archy recently.
Since you are in-state, ECU is a pretty good program to grab the MA fairly cheaply. Those profs are fairly dedicated to getting you out in 2 years.

That would be Dr. Randy Daniel. He is a very good archaeologist and a pretty good teacher. You'll be in good hands. Dr. Ewen runs the historic archaeology side, but you will likely want to take his Public Archaeology course (aka CRM 101 -- graduate version).
I went the statistics route and have regretted it every day since.
If you have writing issues (like most archaeologists) get a version of your assignments in early and they will give you advice/corrections before you officially turn things in. Dr. Daniel is a grammatical stickler to a certain degree. It is easy to impress him, though. Just read everything he gives you and speak up in class... especially if your classmates are not particularly talkative. Even if you are wrong; you still get points in his eyes for at least making the attempt and showing you read what he wanted you to.
If you want to engender yourself to the archaeology faculty (assuming you didn't get funding for the first year), pick a project in the Lab -- This can be something as mundane as organizing the library or something else that makes their lives easier (without paying for it). Works like gangbusters.
In the end, it is a decent program and they have a few connections within the archaeology world around NC.
Good luck down there.
