Job Description: The candidate will participate in a variety of activities that may include: archaeological archival research, survey, excavation, and construction monitoring in accordance with federal and State cultural resource regulations for assigned project studies. The candidate will work with other archaeologists, scientists, and engineers on a variety of projects from both government and private industry.
Archival research may include coordinating with CHRIS centers, Native American Heritage Commission, local Native American groups and other interested members of the public.
Archaeological survey and excavation will include resources documentation in the field through preparation of site records, photography, mapping, and use of GPS. The candidate must be capable of meeting the physical demands of survey and excavation duties including working in difficult terrain and inclement weather conditions. The candidate will be expected to travel within the State.
The candidate will complete required survey and excavation documentation, including site records, monitoring summaries, and excavation forms.
