* This is a part-time position.*
*May work up to 40 hours per week and up to 1500 hours per year.*
This class is restricted to college students currently enrolled in an accredited college or university and pursuing a degree in Archaeology, Anthropology or closely related field to the area of assignment.
Description of Duties: The primary duties of this position are records management duties to include entering files into database, processing records for archive and completing records storage process. This person will also enter archaeological site and project information into the AZSITE cultural resources data base. Logging in state and federal projects on a regular basis. Researching projects to determine cultural resources that may be impacted by project location and scope. Conduct preliminary evaluation resources that may be impacted by projects. Providing background information for SHPO on compliance comments and projects. Organization and maintenance of compliance and SHPO records and files where needed.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships. Skill in accuracy and maintaining project log on a regular basis. Skill in reading county highway maps and U.S.G.S. topographical maps; transcribing and formulating legal descriptions to and from maps. Skill in basic researching and clerical skills. Skill in oral and written communications. Knowledge of the Historic Preservation program including historic preservation legislation and the National Register of Historic Places. Familiarity of cultural resources including architectural, historical, cultural, and engineering, with more in-depth understanding of archaeological resources. General knowledge of history and prehistory of Arizona and a basic understanding of geographical areas within the state.
